About me

Julie Waters….

Happily living in Doylestown, Pa for 20 years and more. I don’t like to add up the years too much as it involves a realization that there is a slight possibility that I MAY BE GETTING OLDER. (breathe.) I love traveling, running, challenges and large dogs. Sometimes in that order but not always.  I simply love to spend my time investigating new restaurants with Peter, my husband and best friend along with Matt, my son — the instigator for new ideas.

I love having a calm, uncomplicated life with lots of adventure.

A true authentic challenge is a great adventure for me and one that I rarely decline. Unless it involves a giant black diamond ski trail where I am scared to death. I can be quite good at disappearing in those circumstances. It is easy to get all those meeting places mixed up when the mountains are looming large in the background. It’s not my fault.  And I will admit right now that if I am found sitting in a hot tub with lots of fantastic skiers I will lie outright about where I have been skiing. Who would know.

I love spontaneity, simplicity and fun.

I should mention that on exactly June 20, 2007 I fell competely head over heels in love with an animal that weighed 25 pounds when we met and he proceeded to gain 5 pounds a week for the next year. (and still growing) He tells me the feeling is mutual and I know it’s true. Of course he can’t talk but I usually know what he is thinking. Except when he ate our couch – I did not pick up on that vibration soon enough and we both feel badly about it. We call it water over the dam (and damn!) but all’s forgiven. The lady at the sewing shop understood why I needed to buy extra large needles and heavy duty thread and I appreciated the fact she guided me to the right materials as I explicitly told her I HAVE A LARGE DOG THAT ATE MY SOFA. She was very nice and I didn’t feel overly humiliated when I Ieft the store.

I still love him and he sits and sleeps in places that infringe upon what a normal household would endure and I have been known to deny all of his bad behavior. There is no bad behavior. He’s a puppy.

As much as I want to sit and stare at him all day I am compelled to do otherwise. Birthdays can make one do crazy things. So re-read the part about challenges and adventures and that is where this is going. I like things that add up evenly — so a bicycle ride for 50 days to kick off turning 50 seems like it all adds up. (with 50 other people) It’s perfect.

Astoria, Oregon to Portsmouth, NH – 3650 miles on my amazing bicycle…the ride to celebrate being 50. Just imagine how much cake and ice cream that is worth!
